Hot Babe.

Postby Ginger » October 20th, 2010, 1:39 pm

Hi, All!

Some of you may recall Babe, the very large blue kiln named for Paul Bunyan's great blue ox. Well -- she is finally all fired up! Today is her maiden firing since leaving her birthplace in Denver. Granted, it's not much of a firing -- its purpose is only to force dry the first coat of refractory cement on the new shelf. A single segment: ramp up AFAP to 250 degrees F, hold for six hours, and shut off! Still -- it's a milestone, and I've gotta say it was thrilling to flip the ON switch, program in my little firing schedule, and watch her spring to life. Hooray! Baby's first steps -- or, guess I should say, Babe's first steps.

The new car smell totally counts! This is exactly the same thing . . . except it doesn't exactly smell good -- it's more the IDEA of it that smells good! Just got home from a demo at Bullseye and checked in on her -- she had 14 minutes to go and appeared to be functioning perfectly. Good girl!
